Dear Mass Library System Members,

On behalf of the MLS Executive Board I extend our invitation to please join us at our 2016 Annual Meeting on November 7, 2016 at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

Our keynote speaker is John Palfrey, Head of School at Phillips Academy and an instrumental leader in founding the Digital Public Library of America.  John is the author of the recent book, BiblioTech.  His book is a strong endorsement of the need for libraries and a call for support.

A presentation on our new Strategic Plan: 2017-2019 will be the after lunch topic.  Our plan includes three goals:  Develop and facilitate co-creator culture in the Mass Library Community; Build Capacity for Marketing & Communications; and Position the library community for future readiness.  Abby Straus, our strategic planning consultant, will lead members in a participatory exercise in co-creator culture.

Members will be asked to approve the Plan and Service and Budget for fy2018 and the slate of candidates for the Executive Board.  These documents will be available soon.

We are proud to host Ignite Session presentations crafted by our 2016 Project SET participants.  During our second session of Project SET we took a deep look at current trends in libraries, inspired by the American Library Association’s Library of the Future. Come discover the inspirational results of this six-month project, designed to cultivate presentation and leadership skills among your Massachusetts library colleagues.
