We’re pleased to introduce April Mazza, our first Advisor for Youth and School Library Services. She started her position on December 9 and looks forward to engaging school and children’s library members to develop responsive MLS services.
April began her library career creating and teaching formal library skills instruction for students from kindergarten through grade five. She led a busy children’s department at Wayland’s public library before a transition to the MA Board of Library Commissioners, where she served as Reference Librarian and Education Specialist.
April reviews for Horn Book Guide and Kirkus. Previously she was a youth audio/visual reviewer for School Library Journal. She participates actively in ALA, NELA, and MLA, and is a frequent conference presenter. She holds a Master of Science in Library Science with a focus on school libraries from Simmons College.
April’s deep commitment to children’s literature and to children will bring a new dimension to MLS. She would love to hear from the school and children’s services community. You can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
