Chester C. Corbin Public Library

Position Title:  Library Clerk

Statement of Duties:|
Full-time position that is responsible for organizing and maintaining accounts payable and receivable at the public library; also provides coverage of Circulation Desk.  Performs all other related work as required.

Supervision:
Performs work responsibilities under the direction of the Library Director, who provides general work goals and objectives and policy direction.  Incumbent performs day to day tasks with a high degree of independence, and brings unusual situations and policy questions to the Director for resolution; Incumbent decides most methods and practices for completing work assignments, referring unusual or questionable issues to the Library Director.

Education & Experience:
Requires an Associates Degree in business or related field, with two years of experience in an equivalent position.  Previous library experience preferred.
 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of computer software and systems including Internet, word-processing, spreadsheet, and accounting applications; demonstrated ability to work independently and set priorities for multiple tasks; maintains confidentiality of library patron information; exercises good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with public, vendors, and other town employees.


Physical & Mental Requirements:
Work is performed in a busy library setting, subject to moderate noise.  Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, reach, stand, talk, listen, and use equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, and photocopier.  Must be able to retrieve library materials from stacks for patrons quickly and easily.  Normal vision requirements.
