We’ll learn about the Harvard Library Lab and the Wesport CT Library’s MakerSpace. Registration opens soon. Read more.

November is Family Literacy Month both nationally and here in Massachusetts. Governor Patrick will sign a declaration promoting family literacy during the month of November. Shelley Quezada is asking your help in sharing with her (briefly) any family programs that you may be planning during that month. She would like to ask that you promote these family events e.g. story hour, family program that they may already be doing as “Celebrate Family Literacy Month @ the __________ Library”.

This will require no extra work on your part except to let her know what event(s) your library might be holding next month! If you plan to hold a story hour, outreach event or any gathering with some intergenerational component, all you need to do is brand it as a family literacy event. Please let her know so she can post this information on the MBLC portal site: http://libraries.state.ma.us/ .

MLS is also recognizing Family Literacy Month with a series of Roundtables and Workshops in November.
