Job Opening: Resource Sharing Director – Applications Due 8/19/13

The Massachusetts Library System empowers and connects libraries for success. We seek a motivated leader to build a new department to meet the ongoing needs of Massachusetts library patrons for physical and shared electronic content.   The Director will work with the management team and executive board to ensure delivery of the highest quality services and support. This new professional, supervisory position reports to the Executive Director.

The Massachusetts Library System is expanding and creating a new Resource Sharing Department to meet the needs of more than 1,600 academic, public, school and special member libraries throughout the Commonwealth.  This new position will lead, manage, and have responsibility for all resource sharing activities including access to shared electronic content.  Current eContent services include suites from Gale/Cengage, Encyclopedia Britannica and the Boston Globe and soon we will launch a 50-library pilot project to prepare for an eventual statewide eBook platform.  The services of two contracted ILL centers will be brought in-house during the current fiscal year (2014). The incumbent will coordinate with the managers of physical delivery, shared ILS, and contracted document delivery services.

Salary range: $63-89k with excellent benefits.
