Getting to know Deb Hoadley

I am one of the new Advisors at MLS.  I will be advising in the areas of strategic & long-range planning, library management & administration and working with governing boards & stakeholders.  Here is a little background information about me:

I was the Library Director at the Langley-Adams Library in Groveland, MA for the past 4 years. During that time, the library wrote its first strategic plan, and received 2 LSTA grants.  I built relationships between the library and its many stakeholders, creating an advocacy campaign for the library.  As part of the strategic plan, the library space was renovated and redesigned on a shoestring budget and we converted the adult non-fiction collection from Dewey to the BISAC (Book Industry Standard & Classification) system.  While working in Groveland, I served on many boards and committees for community organizations, MLVC, as well as the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce.  I am currently a Library Trustee for the Plaistow Public Library, and have served on the Friends for over 10 years in Plaistow.

I bring a strong passion for making connections between the library and the community in which they belong.  I believe that a community is stronger when the library becomes a core, essential service to the patrons they serve.  Through strong planning and advocacy a library can strategically place themselves in positions of power.

Please feel free to contact me anytime concerning the areas mentioned about;  however, I am also here to assist all our members in any way I can.  Please feel free to e-mail me at dhoadley@masslibsystem.org or call me at our toll-free number (in MA) 866-627-7228 ext 309 or at 508-357-2121 ext 309.
