FULL TIME with benefits. This position is grant funded
and is expected to continue for two years with a possible 6 month extension.
MLS seeks a customer-oriented individual to work with MLS members on broadband technology implementation (Fiber-high speed internet) and training for 126 library buildings in the western and central portions of Massachusetts.
The successful individual will have a minimum of 2 years experience designing
and presenting training on computer applications and hardware troubleshooting to
non-technical users; 2 years installing and administering networks protocols including wireless networks; and verifiable experience creating and using basic Access Databases. The Circuit Rider/Trainer will work with a team of MLS technical staff and partners to assist the libraries when the MBI implements fiber optic based broadband Internet service to public libraries in underserved communities and to train those libraries in the use of the new technology.
Strong customer service orientation. Proficient database skills. Ability to interact favorably and to communicate effectively, in speech and in writing, with library personnel and MLS staff.
BS/BA degree with broad-based Information technology training skills; or other equivalent combination of education and technology certifications.
Works from the Whately MA office with frequent travel throughout Massachusetts.
MLS is a statewide service provider for 1,700
multitype libraries across Massachusetts. MLS was formed by the merger of six regional library systems in 2010 and has locations in Marlborough and Whatley.
MLS provides continuing education, advisory services, an integrated
library system (MassCat), physical delivery of library materials and a statewide
buying cooperative for library supplies and materials.
